The Original Great Southern Brevet

There is a great art in selling the wind

Yes it was another day with the wind featuring strongly (pun intended).

The majority of the field was still heading southward so many enjoyed a tailwind. Reports of cruising at 35kph down the Von Road were common with some reporting they hit 50 comfortably.

A well placed lawn to relax waiting for the Explorer to return from Walter Peak for the second full trip of GSB 2021 riders for the morning

Running repairs? Rob getting patched up. Not sure I would get that close to a foot that has spent the last 4 days riding 12 hours a day 😬

Round 2 for the morning and queuing for the Explorer to Walter Peak

Bikes and riders stowed

It's a big lake and those are those are big hills (and a tiny boat).

Bracken Hall in Mossburn, famous for it's Venison Pie. Apparently the Salmon Quiche comes highly recommended by Al.

Shift change at Bracken Hall Cafe in Mossburn. Paul arrives and Gordy is about to mount up and depart

So riders strap all sorts of useful things to their bikes, warm clothes, a cooker, a tent, sleeping bag and ... like I said 'useful' things?
