The Original Great Southern Brevet

Hot and windy day on the Maniototo Plain

Getting slightly concerned the standards are slipping in the Great Southern Brevet.

Did I mention the next section is straight into the headwind? Why are they smiling

The Upper Taieri Gorge awaits as the riders join the Otago Rail Trail to Ranfurly

Not sure sculling 2 litres of banana milk in the shop is the done thing in Ranfurly

Matt continues by destroying a whole chicken

Pretty bad when you haven't got the energy for a swim when it is 28 degrees out

Late Thursday Check-ins, think the sun might be getting to some riders?

Ian and wendy are in ranfurly. That was leg of extremes.  Evil mind must have thought up swampy ridge. My brakes failed and took an hour to sort out. Then the  dark and heavy for meant that the forestry section was by braille. Slept in a bus shelter and rudely awoken by Mr king. Central rail trail not as good as Clyde to Lawrence. Very hot very head windy
