A brief respite from the wind (for some)

Those heading up and over from Garsten today struggled up and over the Hector Mountains to find relative respite in the Upper Nevis Gorge from the wind. It lasted until Duffers Saddle 😎

The lower Nevis Gorge, can you spot the rider on the road?

Dan and Russell as official summit attempt registrars, brief interview required to determine if appropriate suffering conditions have been met: is it steep? is it hot? is it windy? Summit validated 👍

Mark withdrew when he found it difficult riding with a pedal embedded in his calf muscle 😨. But he still managed to get trail side with some treats for the riders at the turn off to Hawksburn Road, cherries, apricots and cold Coke!
